  2. DemTools Launch is set for August 12th! The event will unveil four new webapps that will support groups working for democracy, open government, and citizen rights around the globe. Designed with the needs of civic groups in the developing world in mind, these tools will aim to solve some of the most common problems faced by concerned citizens working to improve their societies.
  3. Macon Phillips from the U.S. Department of State joins the panel. 
  4. Merrick Shaefer, the MobileData lead USAID Digital, joins the panel. 
  5. Rose Jackson, a Special Advisor at U.S. Department  of State's Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, joins the panel. 
  6. Doug VanDyke from Amazon Web Services joins the panel.

    NDItech's Chris Doten, who will be kicking off the event on Tuesday, explains a bit about the purpose behind the DemTools, and the importance of working to close the "Geek Gap". 
  8. As the big day gets closer, media development professionals, techies, democracy developers, and members of the press send in their RSVP's to the launch's EventBrite page. Rosemary D'Amour from @CIMA_Media wins the grand prize of a Twitter shout-out (!!!) for being the 100th person to respond.
  9. Nancy Payne , the Deputy Director of PeaceTech Initiative at the US Institute of Peace, is announced at the panel moderator for tomorrow's DemTools launch.
  10. The #Demtools launch officially begins both at NDI and online through our live stream! As guests tweet about their excitement for the event, NDI Vice President Shari Bryan kicks things off with a few remarks before handing the mic over to Chris Doten.
