Profile
Meron Menwyelet is a Project Assistant with the information and communication technology (ICT) team at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), where she assists with the strategy, design and implementation of technology to support NDI’s democracy programming around the world. As a recent graduate from the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University, Meron is eager to apply her academic and professional experience in the areas of good governance and innovation processes as a member of the ICT team.
Prior to commencing her graduate studies, Meron coordinated, led and supported integral projects in the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (formerly the Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization) at the U.S. Department of State. Meron later served as a fellow with the Advocacy Project in Kampala, Uganda where she developed advocacy and communication strategies for an innovative organization that empowers marginalized women through skills training. More recently, Meron served as a research assistant at Global Integrity, where she assessed social, economic, political and anti-corruption mechanisms at the national level in 54 African countries.
Meron is a graduate of Colorado State University, where she earned her BA in political science and international development. She studied abroad in Amman, Jordan, where she undertook a legislative review of Jordan’s Law on Societies that highlighted the achievements, challenges and evolving role of civil society organizations seeking to mobilize social change in the country.
Meron is an Africa enthusiast at heart, but an advocate for transparency and accountability, women’s empowerment and civil society capacity-building around the world.
